LETTERS: It is important to clarify that there is no scientific evidence to support the claim that low-cost meals can cause autism in children.
Autism is a complex neurodevelopmental disorder caused by a range of genetic and environmental factors.
Low-cost meals are a way to provide basic nutrition to adults and children who may not have access to regular meals due to various reasons, such as poverty or food insecurity.
In fact, providing nutritious meals to children is important for their growth and development, and can have positive impacts on their health and wellbeing.
It is also important to rely on evidence-based information and scientific research when making claims about health and nutrition. There is no credible scientific evidence that links meals to autism in children.
Therefore, it is important to support initiatives that provide nutritious meals to those, including children, who need them and to work towards creating a more equitable and healthy society.
People with autism may experience difficulty in social situations or have a wide range of cognitive abilities. In this regard, they often need extra support to reach their full potential, not false claims that further contribute to the stigmatisation of their condition.
